Tormented these past few days , i decided to invite my photo buddy, Rose to have a photo walk with me. Medyo I took some research, we want a place where we can find peace. Someone suggested a cemetery, we know it’s a joke but it turned out a good idea.
So, there I was scanning the net for possible locations, thus I found this gem. It’s ok having a cab, at least you don’t have to walk some miles just to reach the front gate of the cemetery. It’ll just cost you merely 80Php. Promise.
Anyway, the establishment is open daily to the public. You can go there 9am till 5pm. You’ll be greeted by their polite Manong Guards, inspect your belongings and will ask your intent. Taking photos are okay as long as you observe their policies. I mean, hello… R-E-S-P-E-C-T.
So balik sa photowalk, I already expect that I’ll be greeted with a vast array of white crosses. But I was so surprised that it’s very peaceful than I expected. Even though it’s in the middle of a industrial development area, the place is so quiet at all. And the breeze…kala mo di ala-una ng tanghali. I thought what it feels like being dead that time.
some of the heroes here are unnamed or buried without their family’s knowledge. I read somewhere that in a chance that a family went here to check their love one, they can go to the office beside the cemetery gates, there, they will be assisted by the admin to locate the site. the admin able to keep names and identify a hero by checking the manifest, giving them some coordinates of the location where the hero buried.
We went on the west side of the cemetery. It’s like a contoured hill, so scenic and even though there are some park benches on the sides, I preferred sitting in the middle of the road, I don’t know, I felt comfortable sitting in that area, seems positive energy flows all over that area that you don’t care anymore about anything, well me, about my pants.
Just a history, The Manila American Cemetery and Memorial is located in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.
According to Wikipedia : The cemetery, 152 acres (0.62 km2) or 615,000 square metres in area, is located on a prominent plateau, visible at a distance from the east, south and west. With a total of 17,206 graves, it is the largest cemetery in the Pacific for U.S. personnel killed during World War II, and also holds war dead from the Philippines and other allied nations. Many of the personnel whose remains are interred or represented were killed in New Guinea, or during the Battle of the Philippines (1941-42) or the Allied recapture of the islands. The headstones are made of marble which are aligned in eleven plots forming a generally circular pattern, set among masses of a wide variety of tropical trees and shrubbery.
There’s chapel in the middle of the area, a tall stone structure enriched with sculpture and mosaic. The works are so amazing. I mean, how they filled up the whole interior with mosaic tiles, but not just tiles, crushed tiles.
In front of it on a wide terrace are two large hemicycles with rooms at each end. Twenty-five large mosaic maps in these four rooms recall the achievements of the United States Armed Forces in the Pacific, China, India and Burma.
If you have some time reading the engraved names , you’ll notice the mix of American and Filipino people who served the country. There are some interesting facts like knowing some jobs or tasks that actually existed during the war. Then there’s some wake up call. I found some photographers, cameraman; camera assists who died during the war. Wala lungs. Just thinking of photojournalism in this present day 😀
Carved in the floors are the seals of the American states and its territories. Too bad I wasn’t able to complete them because of some of those are damaged already and can’t be recognized at all.
the area is so scenic. the architect did a good job making the hemicycles work something like the end product of a White House wing and pantheon mixed together. we cant help ourselves to take some photos for remembrance. 😀
I’m so relaxed after visiting the site. I usually associated fear and creepiness to cemeteries, but not that time. I want to go back there sometime for no reason..hmm..further soul searching, I don’t know.
By the way, The Memorial is maintained by the American Battle Monuments Commission. The cemetery is open daily to the public from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. except December 25 and January 1.
So that’s for now guys.
So Till Then and Godbless
The last time I participated in this kind event is way back college. When my love with Anime was on hype. Well actually, I don’t have the confidence to wear Gourry Gabriev of Slayers or Lee Shauran of Cardcaptor Sakura; so I ended up being one of its spectators. It’s been a while so I felt weird joining a Cosplay convention after so many years.
I joined my workmate Martin and his team enjoy the 5th TAGCOM : the gathering [Toys and Hobbies Convention] last Saturday at Robinson Midtown Ermita. It felt like my first time, I’m too shy to wander around and have some pictures taken but what the hell, I don’t want my effort bringing a camera go to waste there I was, a triggerhappy shooter. [Haha, sorry for the word.]
Sadly, I’m not familiar with almost 90% of the anime characters represented that day. Might be because I stopped watching anime as soon as started working. I barely hunt dvds of animated series nowadays. Nasanay akong makuntento sa DNAngel, first 2 seasons of Naruto, Hunter X Hunter, Ruruoni Kenshin at cardcaptor Sakura. [Did I mentioned I am a BIG fan of than series? Proof? Go to my room]. Pero all in all I enjoyed watching those peeps strike a pose, anime style.
Hmmm, I wonder how much each costume cost? I know some of them went to Divisoria and spent some time to sew their ideal costume together, I must commend the outcome. Speaking of commendation, I met this girl while I’m on my way to the loo, She is so mysterious and her dress is not costumy but God knows that she’s a head turner. She’s with her two younger siblings whose I guess will be joining her in the event. So there I was, starstrucked, decided to take her a picture once I got a chance to meet her.
Anyway, back to the event, i struggled getting nice photos, there’s so many photographers that day, ah technology!-sa sobrang dami, di alam ng mga participants kung saan sila lilingon. hehe.
Well syempre, dahil toys and hobby convention sya, malamang madaming toys, mangga, comicbooks, anime DVD, apparel, Japanese junk foods at kung anung anek-anek ang makikita. I almost drown sad mi ng mamimili [or ng mga hanggang tingin lang]. Nothing caught my attention except those fleece hats and keychains. I want to buy some fleece hats but c’mon many wore them already, andaming nagsusukat even those ala sa character nila, maging cute lang sa pic. Haha bitter? Joke. Anyway. Each hat cost 250 Php.
Then there some keychains from Keybies cafe. I like them all, gusto ko silang bilhin haha. But I can’t. they got keychain designs ranging from anime characters, comicbook characters, famous insignias and university emblems. I was lucky enough to get a Full Metal Alchemist insignia. I told yah, I’m such a fan. Btw, visit www.facebook.com/keybies for more designs. Each keybies Café Keychain cost 50Php only 😀
I saw my TAGCOM crush, standing near the escalator, waiting for me, joke! Well, she’s there enjoying the event, watching her siblings strike a pose in front of some strangers’ cameras. “dis is it!” I said. “Its now or neber!”. So ayun, with my shaking voice , I politely asked her to strike a pose and she’s so humble to comprehend 😀
Sadly I forgot to get her name [or natotorpe lang] but thanks and kudos to her, she’s such a tease. Cruch crush hehe 😀 I’m such a nerd!
Then there’s another girl, I spotted another shojo crush. She’s soooo cute 😀
So that’s for now guys.
So Till Then and Godbless 😀
Puyat at nangungulila.
I’ve been visiting YouTube lately for possible peg for my project. It would be for my final requirement to complete my summer workshop. I do not own a video camera so I decided to make a stop motion short. Stop motion is no rocket science; all you need are the following: digital camera, tripod [or sturdy/steady] piece your camera can lean on and a computer.
I checked some stop motion videos in youtube for some inspiration and it didn’t failed me to do so. I feel so motivated seeing Oren Lavie’s “Her Morning Elegance”. Oren is an Israeli award winning musician and theater director. He directed the music video “her Morning Elegance” that won him a Grammy for Best short form music video”
I must say, I watched the video hundred times already and it didn’t tire me. I always discover new details every time I watch this video. I love how they caught the model in stop motion, she runs on a bed sheet with elegance. So apt with the title.
you can check here how they made this awesome video :
To start : Place the camera in position in front of the object you want to animate. It will be important to the final product to make sure the camera does not move. It can be placed on a tripod to keep it steady. Click the first picture with the digital camera. Then move the object or objects very slightly and shoot the next picture with the camera. Be careful the camera does not shift each time the button on the camera is pressed. Repeat the actions involved with step 2 for as long as you need in order to produce the desired effect. Because each move of the object is slight, you almost certainly will take at least 100 photos for even a 25-second video. Then load it to your PC, use any software you like, Windows Movie Maker, Vegas or simple Ulead [no need to be high end] then drag them to the timeline, you can select the clip duration, than export it as a video, then poof! You have a stop motion film.
Well for me, I tried to apply this to one of my AVP projects and see how it works, unfortunately I have these shaky hands, I can’t make objects move slightly, thus the pace is so fast. But when I import them to my Vegas and set the clip duration, the clip turned not bad at all.
Check out my first attempt[s] on stop motion on these two prenup videos I made for my college friend wedding. Oh, how I love doing AVP especially for a friend
Well that’s for now, I think I need more practice and planning to do my stop motion film. Someday, I’ll create a stop motion film like Coraline and Fantastic Mr. Fox. But for now, I will start to do storyboards and as I planned almost a year ago, I’ll feature my beloved mannequin couple; Adam and Eve.
So that’s for now guys.
So Till Then and Godbless 😀
“It’s a typical situation, in these typical times… Too many choices”
[TYPICAL SITUATION: Dave Matthews Band]
I’ve been doing random things these past few months. And I think I’m spending time without any sense of direction. No effort. No worries. Nothing to lose. That’s my mindset; I don’t know why my interest on things suddenly fades away.
Seems my ambitions were lost somewhere and my life was sucked out by repetitive tasks at work. I’m not stimulated. Wala nang gana ika nga. All things that I can see in life are in shade of gray. There’s so many times I tried to get back on track but something holds me. Must be fear of some sort. Ah basta!
“It’s been three weeks, since I got a decent sleep.
I’ve a restless head and an empty bed, these dreams are killing me so “
[KEEP ON WALKING: Scouting for girls]
I want to draw and write again, express these ideas in my head before it explode, haist. So frustrating but I need an outlet. Frustrated nga ako, tamad naman, ika nga nila , mahirap labanan ang katamaran, nakakatamad kasi . Anyway, I just realized that Im spending a lot of time wondering and spending time in front of the PC doing nothing, just watching nonsense sitcoms to forget the turmoil. But the pain gets back once its closing credit starts to run.
Then one time, something happened. Because of blog hopping, I landed on these amazing sites that inspired me a lot. There’s Mot’s Teacher’s Pwet [http://motsmots.blogspot.com/] , a blog about an artistic teacher and his students. Kakatuwa ang mga kwento nia, not to compare with Bob Ong’s first book, pero may puso ang mga kwento niya, I love how that he managed to collect quirky and funny remarks of his studes. Not to mention, I love his comical drawings of his students in different scenarios.
Then there’s Mary Ann Licudine’s Blog [http://nnayam.blogspot.com/] where she features some her nostalgic colorful works in progress, from custom toys , sketches , watercolor paintings to her Panasonic Lumix GF1 photograph. I envy her craft. It’s so dreamy. Im an instant fan. It’s like going to my dreamland everytime I see her works, so much color, and I think I’ve drowned some of my frustrations everytime I check her site
Thus, it motivated me a lot, so motivated, it made me clean my room in one whole day just to look for my missing HB pencils, pens and sharpener. It was such a big move for me and I think there will be no turning back
As I move things around, I discovered some of my old works; some of them are dated way back grade school. I even got a chance to read again some articles that I made for school, some are stories, but mostly poems. I thanked God for that moment, I think I know now what I’m capable of doing.
As soon as I finished cleaning the whole room, I began to draw some lines and swirls and along the process, decided to do a new banner for the site, also new name. not that I hate the old title KINETOGRPAHED JUDGMENTS, it just that the title is little too off with some of my entries because most of them are personal.
After I draw the last swirl, I took a picture of it, used photoshop to put some texture, thought of a good title. My head is overflowing of ideas that I want to share, from stories, AVP techniques, comments on pop media and many kinds of things.
I think I found my new project. Thus the title. 😀
So that’s for now guys.
So Till Then and Godbless
[Btw: thanks for those who visited my site despite of a four month hiatus. I appreciate all the comments, suggestions and questions. Thanks for all the good words and to some people that made me realize that I should take reality with a grain of salt. Again, Thank you and see you on my next posts :D]
